Honoring Dr. King with Community Action

Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 3 PM

Jasper G. Hayes Omega Center
800 Cedar St., New Bern

Keynote Speaker: Angaza Laughinghouse

YOUTH ART AND ESSAY CONTEST THEME:

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was not just a great orator, but he was also a man of action. He spoke about issues that plagued black people and took an active role in fighting for change. The work Dr. King started is not done and when we see the news and hear of our community struggles, this is confirmed to be true.

What things are happening today that you want to see change? How do you feel about the treatment of black people and history’s impacts on our community? What actions can you take or would you like to take to push for change right where you live?

All submissions must be turned in to the church youth contact, left in the drop box at the
Omega Center, or emailed to info@nbomegacenter.org by Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Download contest rules.
